SAIDA is a not for profit organization that acts as an umbrella organization for the inherited disorders support groups of South Africa. SAIDA aims to provide support for and promote effective communication between the supports groups. SAIDA is also actively involved in promoting the understanding of and education about the many inherited disorders that occur in South Africa.
SAIDA's aims are:
- to provide psychosocial support for people and their families who are affected with or by genetic disorders and those concerned with their health and welfare
- to educate the medical and paramedical professionals, and the lay public, about inherited disorders
- to support research into causes, treatment and prevention of inherited disorders in South Africa
